Key Highlights of the KAiTA Project
The KAiTA Project is being led and developed by a Kumamoto-based company and has received a formal equity investment from Taiwan’s state-owned Cooperative Venture Capital. The project represents an important milestone in Taiwan-Japan corporate investment and cooperation. It is also regarded as a key initiative for advancing the concept of a “Taiwan-Japan Technology Democratic Shield,” while signaling the gradual emergence of a new core for the “Kumamoto Valley.”
KAiTA is located in the heart of Kumamoto’s semiconductor industry cluster, approximately a three-minute drive from TSMC’s Japan Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing (JASM) facility. It is currently one of the large-scale integrated technology park development projects located closest to JASM, providing a significant and difficult-to-replicate strategic geographic advantage. Its location has been described as a “nerve center” closely connected to JASM, with the potential to become a key node linking semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, materials, and AI applications.
