Expanding into Taiwan’s real estate market by selling residences to international residents, providing rental brokerage services, and planning to develop office buildings for companies establishing a presence in Taiwan.
As TSMC Expands into Kikuyo, Taiwan-Based Company “Jingben” Steps Up Investment in Kumamoto’s Real Estate Market
Following the expansion of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) into Kikuyo Town, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, “Jingben,” a Taiwan-capitalized company based in Kumamoto City, has been steadily increasing its presence in the market for detached homes targeting Taiwanese residents relocating to the area. Since entering the Kumamoto market in 2023, the company has developed nearly 50 residential land lots and has expanded its business into rental brokerage, corporate attraction, and other related services.
Founded by President Chen Chen-hsing (61), who previously worked in Taiwan’s real estate industry, Jingben currently sells newly built homes in the two cities and two towns of Ozu, Kikuyo, Koshi, and Kumamoto.
Of the 46 residential lots developed by the company in Goryo, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City, and Muro, Ozu Town, 28 have already been sold. Buyers include families as well as a significant number of purchasers acquiring properties for use as short-term rental accommodations. The company is also currently developing approximately 2,800 square meters of residential subdivision land in Kikuyo Town.
Expanding into Multiple Business Areas as the Taiwanese Population in Kumamoto Continues to Grow
TSMC is currently constructing its second advanced semiconductor manufacturing facility next to its first plant in Kumamoto. Anticipating continued growth in the number of Taiwanese residents relocating to the region, Jingben plans to further expand its business operations into several areas, including:
Lifestyle support services for Taiwanese residents in Japan
Attracting Taiwanese companies to invest and establish operations in the region
Real estate brokerage and property management
Commercial facility and industrial park development
The company also plans to develop land surrounding the “Semicon Techno Park” semiconductor industry cluster in Kikuyo Town and Koshi City. Jingben has already acquired approximately 11,500 square meters of land in Miyoshi, Koshi City. Although the specific use of the site has not yet been determined, the company stated:
“We hope to develop a project that can contribute to the growth and development of the local community.”
Plans to Develop Office Buildings and Industrial Land for Taiwanese Companies
Ozu Town is currently promoting a development project involving office buildings and industrial land intended to accommodate Taiwanese companies. The completion date has not yet been determined.
In addition, eight Taiwanese financial institutions are expected to visit Kumamoto this August for an inspection tour. President Chen said:
“We hope to work with financial institutions familiar with the semiconductor industry and help more semiconductor-related companies establish operations in Kumamoto.”
Serving as a Bridge for Taiwan-Japan Economic Exchange
As more Taiwanese residents relocate to Kumamoto, Chen has also been actively involved in local community development.
Through Japan’s “Corporate Hometown Tax Donation Program (企業版ふるさと納税),” the company made the following contributions:
A donation of ¥1.2 million to Ozu Town in February 2026
A donation of ¥1 million to Koshi City
Chen said:
“We hope to serve as a bridge connecting Taiwan and Japan through economic exchange.”
Medical Background and Plans to Enter the Cancer Care Sector
In addition to his real estate business, Chen holds a medical license in Taiwan and has been involved in research and development related to cell-level cancer treatment.
He plans to open a clinic in Roppongi, Tokyo, in August this year specializing in providing medical services to international cancer patients. He is also planning to establish a medical facility in Ozu Town.
He said:
“We hope to create an environment where foreign residents in Japan can receive medical services with peace of mind, with the goal of opening the facility by March next year.”
Supporting Taiwanese Residents as They Adapt to Life in Japan
Chen also places considerable emphasis on providing lifestyle support to Taiwanese residents who may feel uncertain due to differences in culture and everyday customs after relocating to Japan.
He said:
“We hope to support people relocating to Japan in all aspects of daily life, helping them create the living environment they envision and doing our utmost to provide the support they need.”
